Admissions & Applications
All admissions and allocation of places at St George C of E Primary School Primary School are dealt with by Bristol City Council. Please follow the links below to the school admissions page.
Reception places for September 2018
Each year, we offer 15 Reception places. Reception children are taught together with Year 1 in our Matthew Class.
Please go to Bristol City Council's primary admissions page to find out more and make an application.
Bristol City Council publishes a detailed guide for parents and carers applying for a primary school place, which can be found here.
If you have accepted a place with us, we will contact you in July with information about the start of the school year in September.
Children in Reception will experience a phased entry into school in September over a period of three weeks at which point they will be full-time, attending morning, lunch and afternoon sessions. The phased entry allows our staff team to ensure that every child is settled into the start of their school life with care. It also helps us to plan the children's learning.
All children will be visited by the Matthew Class team in their homes at the start of the school year; this allows for a great beginning to our partnership with you.
If you would like to apply for a place in our school during the school year, please apply via the Local Authority following this link.
When you have received notification that you have been allocated a place at St George and made contact with us, we will invite you to come into school to complete some essential paperwork.
Please bring your and your child's passports and your child's birth certificate as well as details of your GP.

Information for new parents
At St George we have a whole school approach to supporting newly arrived pupils and their families. We will aim to:
- Take account of the cultural, linguistic and academic needs of newly arrived pupils and recognise the positive contribution newly arrived pupils can make to our school.
- Welcome new arrivals with a whole school approach, ensuring that we have a carefully considered process for welcoming all new arrivals.
- Positively reflect the new arrivals’ language and culture throughout the school environment.
- Build partnerships with parents as an essential element of working with newly arrived children.
